Felicia Avwontom, Principal Communications and Knowledge Management Officer, joined Independent Development Evaluation (IDEV) at the AfDB in 2009. A versatile and fully bilingual (English/French) professional, her background includes initiating and leading knowledge management, communications, editing, and translation efforts in both public and private sector organizations, including the World Bank Group, the International Labour Organization, and META Group. She has also held leadership positions in large international non-profit organizations, where she led communications and outreach efforts.
From 2009 to 2014, she led and coordinated communications and knowledge activities for IDEV, helping raise the Department’s visibility and credibility. She launched the AfDB Evaluation Community of Practice as well as IDEV’s publishing program. She has coordinated and supervised the publication and dissemination of over two dozen evaluation reports and related documents; and organized several successful knowledge sharing events for IDEV. She is the editor-in-chief of the department’s flagship quarterly knowledge publication (eVALUation matters), which she launched under the guidance of the Evaluator General.
Prior to joining IDEV, Felicia provided editing and translation services to the AfDB Research and Translation Departments, editing the institution’s Annual Report and other research books for publication.
She holds a Master’s Degree with a specialization in Knowledge Management (George Washington University); an M.A in Translation (Universite de Montreal), as well as a Graduate Certificate in Public Relations (University of Maryland). She is currently pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Warwick University.
